"...As a whole, the story is succinct and satisfying, an enjoyable read and worthy of reflection."

" A young girl is out looking for a job (being forced into it by her parents) and takes up one in an art gallery. Only the artist’s newest creations, which he’s working on upstairs, aren’t all that they seem. This story again integrated the “dark glass” theme of the anthology into the story rather well. A good, well-rounded story."

"...“Shedding Skin” by David Seigler, is a coming-of-age tale told by a father to his introverted son. It’s a sentimental, slower moving piece that depicts the lazy days of a schoolboy’s summer...Themes of friendship, fitting in, and growing up are woven nicely into the overall telling, but the characters still seemed a bit flat... Still, the conclusion was nice, and Seigler is a competent author."

Graveyard of the Cloud Gods

The Fix-online

"...In a collection that leans heavily towards fantasy, David Seigler’s “Graveyard of the Cloud Gods” stands out as an excellent piece of science fiction, which succinctly but effectively describes a complex alien world with two distinct but linked cultures and some convincing speculative biology... Seigler mixes strong speculation with muscular writing to good effect and delivers a very enjoyable story, one of the best in the anthology."

The Future Fire

"By far the most original and striking piece in this volume is David Seigler's 'Graveyard of the Cloud Gods', one of the most inventive stories I have read this year...and it is not kind to those who hold to the old ways or insist on their blind faith despite any evidence to the contrary, especially those who will repress or attach those who threaten their Panglossian view of their world. This piece manages to be scathing, tragic, philosophical, and optimistic in equal measure, and is a tour de force of a short story."

"...Seigler does an especially good job of building a unique world while maintaining an economy of words. His vivid writing opens the reader's imagination to new possibilities. "

The Drahatzi are Coming!
(published in All Possible Worlds #2, Fall 2007)

Blogtide Rising:

"Most of the time Thurberesque “Walter Mitty” characters turn me off. Norman Whittle had just the right amount of realness to excuse his flights of fantasy. Mr. Seigler maintained enough humor to keep the story flowing even when events spin off in weird directions. This story has the same surreal feel as the motion picture “Dark Star“. I thoroughly enjoyed it."
