Final standings for the December 18th Free For All Tournament:
Christmas may have been in the air, but carnage and merciless pounding were the rule of the day. It was Ground Zero's annual "Free For All", anything goes tourney. Not only were there lots of cool, totally broken decks, but everybody got a prize.
Brody Taylor walked away with the Fifth Dawn Window Cling, Jake Fuller snagged the Urza's Legacy Game Guide, Payton Galvez got the Dark Steel poster, Theresa Mitchell and James Wansley both snagged a set of foil lands and a foil Gaea's Blessing, Jonathan Hopkins carried away the Laminated Champions Of Kamagawa Poster/Map and Ryan Angell drew his own name for the Laminated Players Mat. Most of the petty envy was directed at Dave Alger, who ended up with the Signed and Numbered Ali From Cairo print.
Of course, in the end, it was a virtual three way tie for 1st place, as all the "quick kill" decks ran into perpetual draws.

People holding their breath! Playing with one hand behind their backs! Singing and announcing creature entry! Multiple occurances of the word "Ass". Of course, all this wackiness was the Unhinged Release Tournament. Fittingly enough, there was a tie for 1st place. This time there was actually a 3rd and 4th place (which in DCI tourney's is always a tie for 3rd), with Matthew Horn taking third and not only winning the life counter, but the empty box of Unhinged cards as well!

Final standings for the February 7th Dark Steel Sealed Deck Tournament:
It was the sealed deck tournament that everyone was looking forward to. Dark Steel was finally released and players got a chance to use them in tournament play. When the twelve players were finally narrowed down to two, it was James Wansley against Jason Barnes. James had never won a tournament and this time it looked like he would finally pull it off! He took the first game easily and confidence was high that Jason would finally fall. But the second game was slow and the slow game is Jason's arena. After a long round Jason took the second game and it was down to one final game to stay on top. That game, too, drug on but when the dust settled and the yawns ended, Jason was the only one left standing. But James almost took it! He's one step closer! There were moments of actual nervousness on Jason's part.
