Welcome to Kossori's Newsfile. What follows is my (slightly unbiased) view of the current goings-ons in the world of comics.
In the last Newsfile, I mentioned CrossGen's Compendia series, Edge and Forge, and talked about their bold move to get new readers. Well... They did it again... They have posted fifty-eight of their comics online. For no cost at all, you can read the first ten issues of all their comics. They plan to charge a dollar a month for the service, starting April 20th. But right now it's free.
New issues will be added weekly. According to CroosGen, the schedule will be as follows: *Comic appears on the stands.*Two months later, it appears in one of the Compendia titles.*One month after that, it will appear online. So the online comics will be three months behind newstand releases.
-And in other online comics news, Marvel has added The Ultimates and Thor to their Dot.Comics line-up
X-Force, Cable and Deadpool are planned to be relaunched in June. Rumor has it, they will be renamed "X-Statics", "Soldier-X" and "Agent-X".
Aside from a few preview pics of "X-Statics" (which looks the same as X-Force, but with new costumes), nothing has been revealed about the end results of the changes. Most likely, the relaunches will be done to give the current concepts of the titles a fresh start, seperating them from their other incarnations even further. Something X-Force has needed since #116.
"Presented by MSC Cepheid Variable in the Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M University since 1969, AggieCon is the oldest and largest student-run science fiction convention in the U.S.A."
