BIO

I grew up on the dusty plains of West Texas, in a small town with no real claim to fame beyond a forgotten Roy Rogers movie, filmed there during my childhood. Life there consisted of football, rattlesnakes and ranching, and unfortunately none of them appealed to me.

I received a B.S. in Telecommunications from Texas Tech University, which turned out to be a completely worthless degree, but it looks nice on my wall. My minor in music seemed logical for my first career, which was sound engineering. I recorded jingles, spanish and gospel albums by people you've never heard of. It was a cool job that unfortunately paid poorly. Eventually, as all children must do, I set out to place some distance between myself and familiar territory.

My wife and I moved to California just in time for the Loma Prieta Earthquake (it was my first). I abandoned Sound Engineering for sales (more money, seemed logical at the time) and worked for The Good Guys electronics chain. This was a fun job until four gunmen took over the store where I worked. It still stands as the largest hostage situation in US history. It didn't end well and is still studied by law enforcement today as the perfect example of what not to do.

Eventually I landed back in Texas (although I overshot home by several hundred miles). By day I run a store that specializes in comic books and by night (or more usually real early morning) I write short fiction. Occasionally I even sell some of it (see the "My Works" page for a few examples).
